State Bank of Illinois, Yorkville, Designated a Green Business

The designation is awarded to Yorkville Chamber members who have used sustainable and green business practices.

The Yorkville Area Chamber of Commerce’s Green Committee recently presented Kathy Marchwiany of State Bank of Illinois, Yorkville, (SBI), with a certificate designating the Yorkville bank as a “Green Business” for its efforts to protect the environment.

The designation is awarded to Yorkville Chamber members who have used sustainable and green business practices, such as cutting back on printing to save paper, using energy star appliances, using reusable bags instead of plastic, and safely disposing of toxic substances like batteries, copier toner and paints.

Located at 28 Schoolhouse Road in Yorkville, SBI, which can be reached through its website atwww.myslai.com, is a strong advocate of conserving water, recycling, and conserving energy, according to Marchwiany.

The bank’s “green” practices include using toxin-free cleaning supplied, utilizing efficient lighting and light controls and using ambient lighting whenever possible, shutting off all computers and printers when not in use, using reusable bags instead of plastic, and scheduling phone conferences and online webinar training to conserve energy.

“Overall, we are conscious of being conservative in our use of energy, and in our choice of products, and how we effect the environment,” Marchwiany said.  “We are sponsors of rain barrels for the Green Committee’s annual Rain Barrels on Parade program, and we donate to the Conservation Foundation.  We are strong supporters of our Chamber and our community.”
