Nanette's Boutique Moving to Former Blue Orchid Studio Location

Owner Nanette Michalec plans to add merchandise, continue giving 10 percent of sales to charities that help children, families.

Nanette Michalec’s boutique is getting a home of its own after being housed in the front rooms of her Heartland subdivision house since August.

“We’ve grown out of our space,” Michalec said.

The clothing, gift and accessories shop is moving to 101 E. Center St. That location housed Blue Orchid Studio until April, when owner because she and her husband were moving to Vancouver. Vignette's, a gift shop across Route 47, also closed then.

Michalec plans to close her current location June 15 and open a week later at 101 E. Center St., which she has leased for a year. She’ll celebrate the new opening with a performance from 1 to 4 p.m. June 25 by Famous Athletics, a competitive cheer and dance squad.

Michalec also plans to bring her appreciation of Audrey Hepburn’s elegance (think: simple, pink and black) to the renovated house near . She’s adding new lines to her merchandise and plans to continue giving 10 percent of her sales to help a child or family in need.

“I pride myself on purchasing things that you can’t buy anyplace around here,” Michalec said.

That includes MOGO. Nanette’s is the only shop within a 20-mile radius to offer that line of magnetic charm bracelets. The shop also offers a variety of jewelry, flip-flops, picture frames, t-shirts and other merchandise.

The cheapest item is $4.99, while the most expensive is probably $400.

Aside from regular store hours, Michalec offers personal shopping by appointment, which will continue at the new location. She said she enjoys watching customers pick out pieces that will be special to them.

“I like to see people smile,” she said. “It makes me appreciate the gifts God’s given me.”

She wants to help local artists and artisans by showcasing their work, when possible – perhaps during special weekend events.

The hours at the new location will be: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays, 12 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Fridays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays.
