The Name is Bond, James Bond

James Bond speeds off to face the villian in a final battle and he makes a statement that could be our battle cry, "Time to get out in front and change the game."

I know a reference to James Bond is kind of a strange title for my blog this week but there is actually good reason.  Okay, I am a fan, have been since the first movie came out.  Always a die hard Sean Connery is the ONLY James Bond kind of guy, have hung in there through all the other versions, but enter our latest reincarnation of the character, Daniel Craig.  More than that, the writers for the previous two movies have captured something much deeper than a spy thriller.  No, this is not a movie review.

In watching the most recent offering, Skyfall, there is a scene near the end which ushers in a final clash between the villain where as they speed away through the streets of London.  Bond exclaims, "Time to get out in front and change the game." Instead of chasing the criminal, he adopts a strategy to deviate the normal course and make the criminal come to him.  Every time I prep for a book signing for, "Pause Lessons on How to Get Out of Life What YOU want," I think about its core value, to make an intentional effort to change my life.

For those who set goals for the new year and have felt defeated if not discouraged I say to you, March 1st is coming and it is time to get out in front and change the game. Steal back your aspirations, forge forward toward the future and set a goal that for just 30 days you will live life differently.  People will not be interruptions, work will not be a point of dread and money will not be the source of your happiness or focus of your energies.  Set a plan that will tap those special parts of your life and LIVE.  You can only do that by taking an entirely different approach, even get angry with abdicating your decisions.  Stop waiting for situations to dictate the scripts you followed all your life, that isn't living.

Can you change everything?  No, but you can change something.  Say it out loud, enough is enough.  Not for others, but for you, so that you can be more for others.  Don't try to lose weight, try to exercise everyday.  Don't watch television, read everyday, write everyday, paint something, transform something into a new purpose and you transform yourself.

Drop by the book signing at the Fox Valley Winery and I will be give you all sorts of ideas to truly come alive.  Maybe you will even join me as I jump out of an airplane this summer.
