Karma isn't just for bad things

Karma is seen as something to be feared. What if we looked at karma as something we can take advantage of by doing good to others? Maybe we would reap good things.

People talk about karma quite frequently when they have someone that did them wrong and hoping that sweet revenge would come upon that person.  We also talk about karma in the sense that it may affect our decisions as we may not choose to do something that is "wrong,"lest because of Karma, we can expect negative consequences in our life later.  Even the Bible talks about reaping what we sow.  The real question is why do we accept the context of Karma as being inherently bad?

One can't help but believe that the frequency of the use of karma in a negative context shows WE have a less than positive outlook in life.  Maybe we don't truly believe in karma, just in retribution.  Maybe we all feel a sense of failure and that someday we will "get what we deserve."  In college I remember a student asking a question of our professor that only an innocent underclassman could frame.  "When will we get paid what we deserve?", he asked  To which our wise mentor responded, "Steven, you couldn't live on that amount of money".

What if we chose to truly believe in karma, not just the half that is scary?  What if we embraced karma by investing in the lives of those around us?  What if we helped with unbridled passion some great cause or some needy family?  What if we acted so unselfishly, with such generosity that it surprised ourself?  Could karma actually be our friend?  I think we missed the boat on fully understanding the potential of kindness, love, and trust when it comes to karma.

Showing those traits to others reaps those things.  Just as Spring is a time of sowing seeds, we can take this time to invest, give, and share.  Look at those around you.  Consider your significant other.  When was the last time you just did something nice or sweet for them?  Consider those around you.  When was the last time you told them thank you or that you appreciate your friendship or tell them how they have inspired you?

Investing in others is like a deposit in an emotional bank account.  You do these things and it pays you back with interest.  Someday you will need to make a withdrawl.  Will there be something in that account or will you be bouncing checks?

Today is the day to consider how to say thank you, I love you, I will be there for you.  Words, deeds, money.  It is your choice.  Consider the potential positive karma you could reap when putting others first.  Helping other succeed.  Helping others feel loved.  Helping others to be encouraged.  Do those things and you will succeed, feel loved and be encouraged.
