River's Edge Theatre Hosting Summer Children’s Workshop

Two camps will be offered throughout the summer.

You asked and River’s Edge Theatre heard your requests for an exceptional Children’s Theatre Camp at our great Yorkville location!

We are proud to announce 2 great performing arts camps for your kids in 1st through 8th grade. Theses camps will feature two great themes; Character Matters II (too) and Bullies Anonymous!

Both musical camps are educational, as well as fun, with themes based around positive self esteem, how to treat others, and peer acceptance! This “hands on” camp includes dance, music, stage time and art projects with a final performance for family and friends. 

The first camp begins on Saturday, June 22nd at Rivers Edge Theatre, 217 S. Bridge Street, in Yorkville.

1st through 5th graders can sign up for Character Matters II (too). Classes are from 9 am - 12 pm.   4th through 8th graders can sign up for Bullies Anonymous, with classes from 1 pm - 4 pm. The two sessions will start on Saturday, June 22nd and continue on Monday through Friday, ending with a performance on Saturday evening, June 29th, for family and friends.

The second camp, which includes the same material for a new group of kids, begins July 6 with the same schedule. Saturday, July 6th start, and then running Monday through Friday with a single Saturday evening performance on July 13th.

This unique and valuable theatrical experience costs only $120 and includes a camp t-shirt PLUS 4 tickets for the performance (a $40 value). 

Our experienced camp staff include: Sue Johnson (administrative director) who is the founder of ETC! Arts Camp and has 18 years experience in organizing and running several area theatre camps; Megan Johnson (stage director, both camps), who is a graduate from Carthage College with a BA in communication with a minor in theatre, is a co-director for the Sycamore Film Festival; Emily Weber (choreographer session #1), who has a BA in Dance Performance from Point Part University, is the owner/director of the new Yorkville Performing Arts Center; Anita Pellegrini (choreographer session #2) who has BA in education with a dance minor from Illinois State University and teaches in Marseilles; and Patrick Nelson (music director, both camps), who is a graduate of Augustana College with a BA in music composition and is the current creative arts director at Community Christian Church in Yorkville.
