These sisters are offering "sweet gourmet take-home treat" for those who attend the April 22 event at Chapel on the Green.
A special thanks to Joan McEachern and for providing the following news release and photograph.
Treasure Breads, Inc. are partnering with A Century of Brides to offer a "sweet gourmet take-home treat" to all who attend the event on April 22. Both Geneva and Rena will also assist as models during the vintage bridal fashion show, which will start at 2:00 p.m. Geneva and Rena are the daughters of Calvin and Rena Pedersen of Yorkville.
The company was started in 2007 by owner and president, Geneva Pedersen of Yorkville. The initial idea of Treasure Breads grew out of a lesson to her young son about giving to those less fortunate. Mother and son baked breads at home which were sold at garage sales; the proceeds then donated to needy children. Soon, the effort developed into a retail sales opportunity, and Treasure Breads gourmet loaves were featured at Prisco's in Aurora and The Little Traveller in Geneva. Before long, a new sales program was launched and the Treasure Breads products were offered to schools, scouts, and other organizations for use in their fundraising efforts.
In 2010, Geneva's sister, Atty. Rena Pedersen joined the operation as Creative Director and in-house legal council. Today, Treasure Breads produces about 250 loaves of bread a week and the operation continues to grow. For almost a year the breads are now baked at the Chapel on the Green.
