Chili for Charity This Weekend at Riverfront Park

The chili cook-off is on Saturday, and music night is on Friday.

Get your fill this weekend and help out individuals in your community by visiting the second annual Chili for Charity event this weekend.

The event will take place Friday and Saturday at Yorkville's Riverfront Park. As a head's up, Friday will not include chili (read on for the full schedule).

Chili for Charity is organized by the Knights of Columbus and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, which help to provide financial assistance to those in need.

The event kicks off on Friday night at 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. with Music Night. The line-up includes:

  • 5 p.m. - Harlan Flo
  • 6 p.m. - Perfect Strangers
  • 7 p.m. - Trish Kinnavy, Brent Brown and Jon Conover
  • 8 p.m. - Brent Brown and Jon Conover
Admission is $2 and those under 16 years old get in free.

On Saturday the chili kick-off begins at 12 p.m. and goes until 5 p.m. and the entrance fee is $3, which includes 5 tasting tickets and a voting coin (for people's choice award). Additional tasting tickets are 5 for $2.

There will be a total of four awards given; two for people's choice and two for judge's panel, divided between mild and hot.

The musical line up on Saturday will include:
12 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. - TK Southbank Artists & Improve Jam 
4 p.m. - 5 p.m. - Hudson Crossing
5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. - TRIO
7 p.m. - Under the Willow
8 p.m. - Under the Willow and special guests
