Yorkville Teen to Represent Team USA at Special Olympic World Games

Jeremy Kuehn of Yorkville has been selected to represent the United States in the 2013 Special Olympic World Winter Games that will take place in PyeongChang, South Korea, in January.

Jeremy is 17 years old and a student at the Little Friends Bridge High School in Downers Grove, and he loves to compete.  For the past 6 years he has participated on the Kendall County Special Olympics team for the Comets in cross country skiing.  This past January, in the Illinois Special Olympics Winter Games he took home 3 gold medals in his event.  Jeremy’s coach nominated him to the Illinois state office for the honor of going to South Korea to represent the U.S.  “We knew it was a long shot, but were thrilled when we found out Jeremy was selected,” said his mom Lori. 

“I am ice skating and biking to get ready,” Jeremy said when asked about his training preparation.  He will spend a week in Lake Placid, New York, training with the team in December, and then he and his whole family will travel to the games in January for the competition.
