Yorkville Public Library Hosting Hummingbird Presentation

Learn facts about hummingbirds, how to attract them to your garden and more at the event, taking place on April 4.

The following release was provided by the Yorkville Public Library:

 The public is invited to “Hummingbirds: Our Flying Jewels!” the free program to be held at the Yorkville Public Library on Thursday, April 4 at 7 p.m. 

Nancy Carroll, a Master Gardener Alumnus and Landscape and Garden Designer, will present the program sponsored by the Yorkville Garden Club and the Friends of the Yorkville Library.

Carroll, a member of The Hummingbird Society, will share many interesting and amazing facts about Hummingbirds, how to identify different species, what to plant in a yard to attract them as well as give information about feeders. Who wouldn’t want to have rubies and emeralds in their garden?

The Yorkville Garden Club was organized in 1995, and objective of the club is to include opportunities for members to expand their horticultural knowledge and expertise, contribute to the community through beautification projects, and protect and preserve native plants. The Garden Club meets the first Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Castle Insurance Building, 215 Hillcrest. Friends of the Yorkville Public Library meet the second Monday of each month at 10 a.m. at the Library. Its purpose is to promote the Library as a cultural and educational asset to the community and to support and cooperate with the Library in developing, maintaining, and enhancing facilities, resources, and services of the Library. The annual Used Book Sale over Labor Day weekend is the Friends primary fundraiser. For additional information: www.yorkville.lib.il.us.
