Yorkville City Council Approves Site for Christian School: Report

The school will replace 84 previously planned lots in the Prestwick subdivision.

The Yorkville City Council approved last week the final plat and an annexation agreement for a new school in Yorkville to move forward, according to the Aurora Beacon

The 60,000 square foot Christian school will be built on about 110 acres at Ashley Road and Route 126 in the Prestwick subdivision, replacing 84 previously planned lots in the subdivision.

The school plans to open for the fall of 2014 with about 100 students, according to the Beacon, and expand to 800 students.

There are some issues with drainage and how to handle it with the traffic generated at the site and although engineers across the board are in agreement of what needs to be done, there is no clear resolution as to who will pay for it.

The  majority of the alderman said the school would be an "asset" to Yorkville. Alderman Rose Spears, 4th Ward, was the only vote against the decision in a 7-1 vote.
