YGS PTO, Troops and Students Unite for Kendall County Food Pantry

Food and fund drive collects more than 300 items.

Information provided by the Yorkville Grade School PTO.

The Yorkville Grade School PTO, Daisy Troop 399 and Brownie Troop 166 collected hundreds of food items during the YGS Fall Food and Fund Drive for the Kendall County Food Pantry, which ended Nov. 9.

During three weeks in October and November, the troop members and their classmates brought non-perishable food items to Yorkville Grade School. In all, they collected 310 food items and $25 in cash donations. According to the KCFP, each dollar donated purchases $6 worth of food at the Northern Illinois Food Bank, making the drive’s cash donation equivalent to $150 of food.

“We are extremely pleased with the results of the drive,” said Kelly Krantz, Troop 399 leader. “We are proud of our troops’ hard work, and we are thankful to YGS, its families and PTO for helping us to host a successful event. Together, we were able to give back to our community at a critical time.”

With the holidays approaching, the pantry is still in need of donations and non-perishable items, such as cereal, soup, boxed items and canned meat, fruit and vegetables.
