Want a Chance to Fly with Superman?

Warner Bros. holding casting calls in Plano, Naperville, Chicago for paid extras to appear in new 'Man of Steel' film.

Plano residents looking for a bit of fame will have their chance Wednesday. That's when Warner Bros. will hold an open casting call for paid extras to appear in the new Superman movie planned for release in 2012.

The movie, Superman: Man of Steel, is being filmed in Plano, Naperville and the Chicago area in August and September.

An open casting call for Plano residents only will take place Wednesday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Plano High School, 704 W. Abe St. in Plano, according to a news release sent by the film's Aurora-based background casting office.

According to the statement from Warner Bros., the studio is looking for men, women and children of all ages and types to appear as extras in the movie.

Like it does with many movies still in production, Warner Bros. is using a code name for the new Superman film, ''Autumn Frost.''

In addition to the Plano casting call, those hoping to become a part of Superman's Hollywood history can attend an open casting call on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Naperville campus of DePaul University, 150 W. Warrenville Road in Naperville.

Another open casting call will run June 25, from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m., at the Chicago Acadmey of the Arts, 1010 W. Chicago Ave. in Chicago.

Those interested in auditioning for roles can drop stop by any of the casting calls during their open hours. The Plano casting call, however, is only open to Plano residents.

The new Superman film, which will open for the Christmas season in 2012, will be directed by Zack Snyder. Snyder received some fame for directing the action movie 300. Kevin Costner and Diane Lane will start in the new film as Superman's parents while Henry Cavill will play the superhero.

For more information about the casting calls, visit the online home of AF Background or call the company at 708-898-5245. AF Background asks that those interested in auditioning not call the casting call venues for any information.
