Seven Things You Need to Know About Yorkville's Fourth of July

Details about parade, activities in the park, fireworks.

Parade. Yorkville's Fourth of July parade will start at 9 a.m., according to the Bristol-Kendall Firefighter's Association. The parade will proceed along Game Farm Road east to Somonauk Street, then to King Street, West Main Street and Church Street. It will end at the water tower off Game Farm Road.

Parade line-up. Parade line-up is from 7:30 to 9 a.m. in front of . Cars should follow the normal traffic pattern of entering in the south entrance and exiting on the north. Participants are asked to park behind the .

Chapel on the Green. The Chapel on the Green Historical Society NFP hosts a program commemmoriating the sesquicentennial of the beginning of the Civil War. ( was part of the Underground Railroad.) The chapel will open at 11:30 a.m. with organ and piano music, and the program will start at noon with musicians singing several types of Civil War songs.

Activities in the park. Food, kids races and the Yorkville Community Band will perform in following the parade. The kids waterfights will follow the foot races. These activities will wrap up around 1 p.m.

Fireworks begin at dusk. They will be shot off north of the , so they are best viewed from the vacant lot south of , according to the Bristol-Kendall Firefighters Association. Rick Falato's Yorkville Big Band will play at the funeral home starting at 8:30 p.m.

If you want to participate:

  • Just show up at the high school at 7:30 a.m. Monday if you want to participate in the parade; no registration is required.
  • If you would like to sell food or have a booth at Town Square Park, call Deputy Fire Chief Tom Lindblom at 630-553-6186, ext. 102.

Donations accepted. While firefighters host the community event, tax dollars are not used to fund it. If you would like to donate to the fireworks and Fourth of July celebration, please send them to: Bristol Kendall Fire Department, 103 E. Beaver St., Yorkville, IL 60560-1704.

The Yorkville Community Band (in its 19th year!) marches in the parade and plays a concert in the park immediately after the parade. It is the Yorkville Big Band that plays in the evening just before the fireworks.
If you play an instrument, it's not too late to participate with the YCB.....we still have 3 practices left.

Thank you Karen. I only go thru Yorkville once every few weeks anymore (only when I absolutely haveRead More to!!) due to construction (?) and have not even seen the sign. Thanks for your clarification!! Stadium seating is definitely a plus!
