The weekly grab & go kids planner highlights events in Yorkville.

We've assembled a weekly calendar of kid-friendly activities and new places to try out with children. Each week, we'll give you the info on the five best family activities or events for the week. For more adult-only events, check out our Get Out weekend planner.

You're time-pressed enough, so we're happy to do the research and find the best things to do and places to go, both locally and within reasonable striking distance.

2nd Annual Bristol Bay Elementary School PTO Carnival
Where/When: Bristol Bay Elementary School, 427 Bristol Bay Drive. 6-9 p.m. Friday
Why Go: Enjoy a circus-theme evening of fun with games, concessions, face-painting, a bouncer from Hoppers and more.
Pricing: Activity tickets are four for $1 or 25 for $5.

Shamrock Fun
Where/When: Riverfront Recreation Building, 131 E. Hydraulic St. 9-9:45 a.m. Friday, March 4
Why Go: Children ages 3 to 5 can learn aboutleprechauns and enjoy craft projects.
Pricing: $10 for Yorkville residents, $12 for non-residents.

Open Storytime
Where/When: , 10-10:30 a.m. Friday, March 4
Why Go: Cindy Czech of Yorkville Junior Women's Club will read stories fro children of any age.
Pricing: Free to library cardholders.

Surf the Stacks Book Club
Where/When: . New books will be passed out on Friday, March 4. The next meeting will be 4-4:45 p.m. March 18.
Why Go: A great opportunity for students in fifth through eighth grade to read outside school.
Pricing: Free to library cardholders.

Go Green Environmental Art Competition for Kids
Artwork from kids in grades one through 12 is being sought for a Go Green Environmental Art Fair Competition to be displayed during the Go Green fair March 5. Participants should create 2-D or 3-D environmentally inspired artwork with recycled, re-useable or environmentally friendly materials. Individuals can submit entries or work can be done as part of a collaboration. For more information, click here.
