Snow and Ice Predicted for Rest of the Week

The National Weather Service is predicting some rough weather for the Yorkville area.

Cold and snowy winter weather is on the way for Yorkville, according to the National Weather Service.

The NWS is warning of a hazardous outlook for the next 72 hours.

For Wednesday, the area will see wind chill values of -5 to -15 degrees. On Thursday the forecast is calling for 4 to 5 inches of accumulating snow in the afternoon and into the evening hours.

Snow could change over to periods of freezing drizzle and light snow by early Friday.

The Yorkville Public Libary, 902 Game Farm Road, the Kendall County Health Department, 811 W. John St. and the Kendall County Public Safety Center, 1102 Cornell Road, can serve as warming centers. Various area churches are also open to people needing to seek warm shelter. Village Hall is open 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and the police station is open 24 hours a day, every day.
