Ribs on the River Barbecuing Up a Good Time

The second annual event will take place on July 15.

Time to get your barbecue on!

The second annual Ribs on the River is just over a week away on Saturday, July 13 at Bicentennial Riverfront Park. The event coincides with the Illinois Whitewater Festival. 

It's not too late to sign up to be a vendor, sponsor or a contestant who makes the delicious ribs. Check out the information below and an outline of the schedule.

Vendors
Want to sell your wares or other food besides ribs at the festival? You can find all the information and sign-up form here

Sponsors
If you want to be a sponsor for the Ribs on the River you or your company can still sign up until July 10 by filling out this form.

BBQ Contest
Do you barbecue the ultimate rib? Known as the grillmaster? You'll want to sign up and wow Yorkville with your amazing ribs. Check out how to get started here.

The contest begins at 6 p.m. and prizes are awarded as thus:    1st = $500,  2nd = $300 and 3rd = $200.

Eating the Ribs
Just want to partake in the festivities? Ribs will be sold from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. for $3 a piece for a 2-bone rib. There will also be a cash prize for a 50/50 crowd favorite tickets. 

A beer and beverage tent will also be open from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. as well as other vendors. 

Free music will be provided throughout the event with  Kevin Presbrey and the Midwest Band taking the state from 2 p.m. to 5. p.m. and Epic going off from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.   

Free shuttles will also be provided from Circle Center & Yorkville Intermediate School to the Riverfront Park. Donations are accepted.

Other activities during the event for the Whitewater Festival include: Cardboard boat race, kayak mini lessons, boarercross, citizen's rodeo, kayak biathalon and the Mayor's Cup Rafting Challenge.
