Photo Gallery: Easter Cookies That Care

About 60 children attended a cookie-decorating and Disney princess party Saturday morning at Panera Bread that benefited the Make A Wish Foundation.

Four-year-old Raegan from DeKalb wants to go to a Disney theme park through the Make a Wish Foundation, but she still got to meet a few princesses Saturday at a fundraising event at the Yorkville.

Young visitors decorated Easter cookies, had their photographs taken with the Easter Bunny and got to meet Snow White and Cinderella in Panera’s special events room. Free will donations were collected, although store manager Dan Piecuch was unsure of the final total Tuesday.

Raegan attended the cookie-decorating party Saturday morning, when Panera staff also presented her with an Easter basket full of goodies and photographs of Disney princesses autographed especially for her, Piecuch said.

The 31 Panera stores in the Chicago area raised enough money to grant 12 Make a Wish Foundation wishes last year, Piecuch said. So far, they have raised enough for two wishes this year, and funds raised at the Yorkville store are going toward making Raegan’s wish come true.

“All the stores try to do at least one fundraiser, and we have the boxes in the store,” Piecuch said. “The money we raise does go to that child’s wish.”
