Community Corner

9/11 Is Just Around the Corner- Here is a Way to Give Back to our Veterans

RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program) of Kendall County is looking for volunteers age 55+ to assist the Kendall County Salute to Veterans.  The Kendall County Salute to Veterans is partnering with the Walter and Connie Payton Foundation and Concord Place Assisted Living Community in Northlake IL to provide homeless Veterans with a warm safe place to live.  Kendall County Salute to Veterans will be selling raffle tickets inside Jewel Osco in Oswego on Orchard Road with the proceeds going toward housing homeless Veterans at Concord Place along with other activities to benefit Kendall County Veterans.

The first place raffle prize is a 10 minute shopping spree in Jewel Osco and the second place winner will receive a 5 minute shopping spree.  We are looking for folks age 55+ who are willing to sit inside Jewel Osco and sell raffle tickets.  You can set your own days and hours.  Even volunteering on day for a few hours will be an enormous help.  Bring a friend, volunteer as a husband and wife team, bring your children or grandchildren and introduce them to the world of volunteerism and giving back.  You will earn one free raffle ticket with your name on it for every 25 you sell.  RSVP members also benefit from no cost volunteer insurance and if you volunteer for 3 hours or more in a day you can be reimbursed for meal and gas expenses.
