Yorkville Schools, Others Closed Again Tuesday Because of Temperatures

Wind chill values could drop to -41 degrees on Tuesday.

At this rate, students in Yorkville 115 schools will be attending classes in June!

Yorkville 115 School District has cancelled school for the second day on Tuesday, Jan. 28 due to the extreme temperatures and wind chill warning for the area.

All classes, athletics and activities scheduled for Tuesday are cancelled.

The District 115 Administrative Center will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday.

Cross Lutheran School and Parkview Christian Academy are also closed on Tuesday.

Yorkville is under a wind chill warning until 9 a.m. Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service. Temperatures on Tuesday are expected at a high of -1 degrees and windchill is expected at -41 degrees.

Tuesday evening could see temperatures drop to -9 with wind chill values to  -26. 

Other area closings on Tuesday, Jan. 28 include:

  • Kendall Area Transit will only be providing restricted dial-a-ride service on Tuesday. Park and ride services will operate as scheduled with some flexibility based on the Metra schedule. 
  • Fox Valley YMCA will be open on Tuesday from 1 p.m. - 8:30. 
  • Oswego Senior Center
  • All Yorkville Parks and Recreation classes
