Erica Lane and Cannonball Site of Multiple Accidents Due to Ice

What do you think are the most dangerous roads around Yorkville for snow/ice accidents?

If you’ve got to travel in the area of Erica Lane and Cannonball Trail during any type of snowy or icy weather, proceed with extra caution.

The intersection was the scene of three accidents within a two-hour timeframe on Sunday, Dec. 8 after falling snow made the roads icy and slippery.

The first accident occurred at 2 p.m., according to Yorkville Police reports.

Unit 2, driven by a 23-year-old from Texas, was stopped at the stop sign on Erica Lane and Cannonball Trail when it was hit by Unit 1, driven by a 62-year-old Yorkville woman.

The woman reported her vehicle lost control on the snow and ice while turning onto Erica Lane from Cannonball Trail. No injuries to either driver or unit 2’s passenger.

The second accident followed the same pattern and occurred an hour after at 3 p.m.

A vehicle driven by a 32-year-old Montgomery woman was at the stop sign and was struck by a vehicle driven by a 31-year-old Yorkville woman trying to turn onto Erica Lane from Cannonball.

The third accident at that intersection came at 3:45 p.m. when a vehicle driven by a 39-year-old Yorkville woman tried to make the same turn and struck the stopped vehicle driven by a 55-year-old Montgomery woman.

No injuries were reported in any of the accidents.

According to the National Weather service, snow is expected in Yorkville again this week Tuesday evening and Wednesday late morning.
