4-H Federation Annual Bowl-a-Thon
Seventy seven youth participated in 2010 and raised over $2,619 for local food pantries, over $2,900 was given to Honor Flight Chicago in 2011, and $2,500 went to Heifer International in 2012. The Kendall County 4-H Federation is sponsoring its 13th annual Bowl-A-Thon on February 24, 2013 at Idle Hours Lanes, Sandwich and is looking to break the past donation record. This is the largest Community Service Project that the Kendall County 4-H members do.
This year the funds will again go to Heifer International. It was founded on a simple belief: ending hunger begins with giving people the means to feed themselves. Since 1944, Heifer International has helped more than 10.5 million
hungry families in the United States and 125 other countries move toward self-reliance through the gift of food- and income-producing animals. For more information, visit www.heifer.org.
The 4-H Federation is also collecting donations from local families and businesses to give a prize to each bowler, making the day much more fun for each 4-H member that participates. Castle Bank has donated prizes in the past to honor those members that collect the most donations. If you would like to help, talk to your local 4-H Federation member, leader or call Kim Eisnaugle at the Kendall County Extension office 630-553-5823 or email email@example.com. Let’s all work together for a good cause with the 4-H Federation, a group of older 4-H members, and have fun and learn leadership by participating in this Community Service project.
If you would like to donate toward this cause, contact the University of Illinois Extension at the above number, office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. You can also visit Kendall County 4-H at http://web.extension.uiuc.edu/dkk/.
