2013 Election: Yorkville City and School Races

See who's running in each race, what referendums are up for a vote and more.

The filing period for municipal elections ended Dec. 26 for the April 9 election. Here's who filed for open elected positions on local governing boards, according to Will County election documents. Follow along with election results for Yorkville by viewing our results page here. Early voting takes place from March 25 - April 4. Voters can cast their ballots at Oswego Village Hall or the Kendall County Office Building.   The 2013 election takes place on April 9. Polling sites are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. A list of all polling locations can be found on the Kendall County Clerk's website. Joel, Congratulations on your victory. I think we're all winners if you are able consume food to eat that is more easily digestible for you. Also, you seem to be taking a hard stance on traffic laws, which I commend. Let me ask you this: where do you stand on licensing drivers of recreational vehicles, such as golf carts? City Treasurer to Step Down from Office

William Powell, who was reelected in 2011, will resign his position later this month, Alderman Carlo Colosimo announced Tuesday night.

Yorkville Treasurer William Powell plans to resign his position later this month. Alderman Carlo Colosimo announced the intentions of Powell, who was reelected in 2011, Tuesday night. Powell did not attend Tuesday's council meeting. Powell's decision was made after council supported a referendum on the April ballot which will determine if the position of treasurer and city clerk should be elected or appointed. As treasurer, Powell's primary responsibility is to maintain the city checkbook and ensure bills are paid. Developing and tracking the city budget are responsibilities of city staff, including City Administrator Bart Olson.
