I drive there from Aurora every week." And Danielle Williams said: "By far the best place in town to eat. No matter what you have a taste for they make it. Yorkville police caution residents against hiring unsolicited workers for seal-coating, storm clean-up.
It's an unfortuante story police hear too often: A contractor knocks on someone's door, offers a great price for seal-coating and disappears without finishing the job. “We’ve already had one elderly gentlemen ripped off," Yorkville Deputy Police Chief Donald Schwartzkopf said. In that case, the contractor performed some work, accepted a check and left without providing much contact information. When the resident realized the work was shoddy, the check had already been cashed and he didn't know how to get ahold of the worker. Schwartzkopf wanted to caution Yorkville area residents against falling victim to shady business practices, especially in light of the economy. Residents are better off using an established local business or taking …

Readers, what do you think would fit in the heart of the downtown area?
Caring Hands Thrift Shop moved from the heart of downtown Yorkville to the northeast corner of routes 47 and 126 late last year. The move means more space for the shop associated with Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church, but it also means a vacancy downtown. What do you think Yorkville's downtown needs? The area has been rejuvenated with The Follies Theatre and Cobblestone Bakery & Bistro. Kendall Pub, OJ's Tap and Bridge Street Cafe and Lounge are older stand-bys. What do you think should be thrown into the mix?

Local entrepreneur Dennis Larson honed skills in mom’s, grandma’s kitchens.
Dennis Larson, owner of Juniors Gourmet Sauces LLC, has discovered a recipe for success by mixing one part cook, one part detective and one part entrepreneur. The result is a sauce he has dubbed simply: That’s Barbeque. “It’s sweet at first, then a little bit of a kick – it’s not too sweet or too spicy – and it’s a lot thicker than most, with real sugars that caramelize on the meat and stick,” said Larson of his creation. “It doesn’t run off like other sauces do.” After having spent his childhood in Batavia, Larson now lives in Yorkville with Tara, his wife of five years, and their daughter, Lydia, nearly six months old. The journey from Batavia boy to barbeque businessman has been a sentimental one for Larson, who has fond memories of …
