Kendall County Food Pantry Movement/Drive

The KCFP Movement

Posted on October 15, 2012 by ypacarts

This movement started when I wanted to drive traffic to our YPAC (Yorkville
Performing Arts Center) facebook page.  I had asked if anyone was interested in
donating gifts or services for us to “giveaway” on Facebook in hopes to get
people to our page.   Brian and I are very passionate about being generous in
our community and want our children to learn this too and we believe YPAC will
be the venue to do exactly that!! I decided that I wanted to do good with the
traffic we received so I decided that we would donate 1 item of food for every
new “like” starting Thursday October 11 until Halloween. We started at 176. My
girlfriend Madison wanted to join in and told me her family would match our
donation and they would also donate 1 food item for every “like.”

The movement began! After that we received a few more families matching the
donation and we began to set some goals. Goal after goal was met and we are
currently at 12 families matching the donation and 1 family who has made a
generous monetary donation.  10 of these families will be donating to the
Kendall County Food Pantry and 2 of these families will be donating their match
to Home Sweet Home Missionaries out of Bloomington, Il.   We chose the Kendall
county food pantry because not only is it in great need it is also in the county
where we live and where YPAC is! KCFP’s donations are down 25% and their handing
out is up 300%!!!! We just want to help out anyway we can and this is a need we
can help meet.

Some people have asked is there a cap for the 1 food to 1 like ratio.   After
talking with a very passionate group of people we thought it would be best if
there was a cap because we understand the unknown can be scary.  The maximum
would be 100 food items if the likes go beyond 100.  If you don’t feel like you
can “match” but wish to donate we would be greatful!! YPAC will be honoring the
1 for 1 hoping to go beyond 100.  Some people have talked about having their
kids trick-or-treat for canned goods along with their candy or getting a group
together to match the 100.

We will accepting donations on October 27 from 10-2 at Old Second Bank during the BIZ BOO event and also will be accepting donations on Friday November 2 at anytime at 2161 State Rt 47 Yorkville which is the future home of the Yorkville Performing Arts Center.

All of us at YPAC are extremely humbled by the generosity and are determined
to get as many donations as possible.  If you are interested you can contact
Emily Weber at info@ypacarts.com or message her
on facebook at www.facebook.com/ypacarts.

We appreciate any donation small or large!
