One of my favorite events for SPS is 50 Men Who Cook! This year it's Saturday, March 23rd, from 6-9pm. It's held at Lincoln Inn Banquets in Batavia, IL. 1345 S. Batavia Ave (Rt. 31)., Batavia, IL.
You walk into a beautiful banquet hall. Shiny tile floors in the hallway, beautiful crystal chandeliers. You hear live music. Jazz. Our room awaits you.
You enter the room and lining every wall are tables and tables of glorious culinary creations for you to eat! Each table has a different theme. A different dish.
You sample bite-sized portions. You can take your samples to a nearby table to enjoy with friends. The atmosphere is fun and warm. Your tastebuds dance with delight. There are two bars for cocktails.
This is 50 Men Who Cook. A fundraiser for Suicide Prevention Services (SPS).
There are many reasons for us all gathering on March 23rd. Some of us have lost a loved one to suicide. Some of us simply like to eat. Whatever the reason for the union, all the proceeds go to an amazing organization, SPS.
Yorkville's Mayor Gary Golinski is among our cooks for this year's event. He and his wife, Sue, cooked last year also. My heart beams that Yorkville is represented at this important event.
I love this event for so many reasons. I help to promote it. So many of my dear friends and family come to cook. Some of my friends have cooked every year for the past FOUR years. They come back each year because of how fun this event truly is. It's awesome!
A crowd pleaser that is at the event each year is a chocolate fondue fountain. There are fresh fruits, cakes, cookies and more for you to cover in chocolate fondue.
Here is a video from the event from last year: http://video214.com/play/gj6gM9gKtB6dKIL7Ewi7HQ/s/dark
We are still recruiting cooks! Think you have what it takes? Have a signature dish that you can serve 200-250 bite sized portions? (For portion reference, think 250 meatballs in your secret signature sauce.) Please consider joining the fun. Our registration form is here: https://events.r20.constantcontact.com/register/eventReg?oeidk=a07e6oz8t6b817a1766&oseq=
Interested in eating? I am too! Tickets are available online: $50. online or $60. the day of the event at the door. http://events.r20.constantcontact.com/register/event?oeidk=a07e6oz4qcv1c52829d&llr=sg88z6iab
All proceeds go to SPS. Located in Batavia, IL, Suicide Prevention Services is a non-profit organization dedicated to reducing and eliminating suicide and suicide attempts through education, advocacy, and collaboration. 50 Men Who Cook will raise funds that will be used to increase awareness, reduce stigma, and provide desperately needed outreach.
I hope to see you there! www.spsamerica.org

Over the years, there has been so many wonderful items prepared. I try to think about my favorites like Key West Tacos, Irish Car Bomb Brownies, Coconut Shrimp with Mango Sauce, Mexican Lasagna but then stopped dreaming and went online to buy a ticket.

Dear Jonathon, thank you so much! YES!! I think the man who cooked the fish tacos actually caught the fish himself, too! I remember his table being decked out so nicely. I remember eating an irish car comb brownie. And the coconut shrimp with mango sauce. Thank you so much for your support. Are you coming/cooking? Thank you again. Happy New Year and thank you for supporting SPS. Truly, Jen
