A special thanks to Megan Gessler at the Kendall County Forest Preserve District for submitting this news release and photograph.

The Kendall County Forest Preserve District (KCFPD) Education Department presented their seasonal “Stories of Neshnabe’k” family class last Saturday at Hoover Forest Preserve.  Each season, the KCFPD Education Department focuses on a different Native American folk tale for this series.  This particular class heard the Tlingit story of “The Woman Who Married a Frog” as the children were invited to act out parts of the tale.  The children made frog masks and practiced catching paper bugs with their very own “frog tongues”.  Many interesting facts about frogs and amphibians were discussed and participants got to meet Oscar, the KCFPD resident bullfrog.  If you are interested in signing up for KCFPD classes, please visit our website at http://www.co.kendall.il.us/forest_preserve
