Photo Slideshow: Go Green Fair

The Go Green Fair featured various "green" vendors and exhibitors, a student art fair, and presenters speaking about a variety of environmental topics.

On Saturday, the City Of Yorkvlle and the Green Committee of the Yorkville Chamber of Commerce hosted the 5th annual Go Green Fair at Yorkville High School.

The event featured various “green” vendors and exhibitors, a student art fair, and presenters speaking about a variety of environmental topics.

Vendors and exhibitors showcased natural soaps and beauty products, natural candles, beekeeping, chiropractic care, acupuncture, renewable energy, knife sharpening, green home remodeling, electronics recycling, and more.

The student art fair featured art made from recycled materials such as cardboard, plastic, newspaper, and more. All were made by students at Yorkville schools.

Presenters included Brandon Pettigrew of Energy Impact Illinois, who spoke about “Energy Efficiency Improvements for the Home”, Jim Kleinwachter of The Conservation Foundation, who spoke about “Rain Gardens and Rain Barrels”, and Nathan Thompson of Thompson Chiropractic, who spoke about “Eliminating Toxicity”.

Ed Bell of Belfry Bees in Yorkville entertained children at the event by providing coloring books and crayons. He also educated people about natural honey and beekeeping. He is offering beekeeping classes this spring. For more information, visit the Belfry Bees website
