Kevin J. Lyons, 54, now of McConnell, IL, was sentenced to 30 months in prison after authorities found more than 1,000 images of undressed and partially dressed children, including some that were pornographic, Kendall County State's Attorney Eric Weis said in a news release. Lyons was convicted of 12 counts of possession of child pornography in June.
“Children are the most vulnerable and susceptible victims to abuses. and possession of images that victimize children by predators like Kevin Lyons must be stopped," Weis said in the news release. "Therefore, they need the most protection and the best attorneys prosecuting these cases. This office has the dedicated prosecutors that will ensure that justice is done for any abused child in Kendall County. Crimes against children will not be tolerated.”
Weis complimented the Yorkville Police Department, the Kendall County Sheriff’s Department and the Illinois Attorney General’s Office-High Tech Crimes Bureau, as well as First Assistant State's Attorney Nemura Pencyla and Assistant State's Attorney Robert Dore, who tried this case.
Lyons also will have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, according to Weis.
