Felony Charges Filed Against Woman Who Alleged Rape Tuesday
Annette C. Brown, 33, of Sandwich, faces three counts of felony disorderly conduct.
The woman who told police a uniformed man raped her in a cornfield at gunpoint has been charged with filing a false police report, authorities said.
Annette C. Brown, 33, of Sandwich, will be taken into custody with a bail of $10,000 when she finishes treatement at an area hospital, according to a news release from the and the . She faces three felonies.
"During the course of the investigation, detectives from the Kendall County Sheriff's Office evaluated the physical evidence recovered during the investigation, photographs, leads developed during the investigation and witness statements, including the initial statements from Brown," the news release states. "After an intensive review of the investigation, detectives determined that the facts of the case were not consistent with Brown's allegations."

Authorities announced Thursday that they did not believe a sexual assault nor a police imposter were involved in an incident.
The woman had told police she was driving on Griswold Springs Road about 0.25 miles west of Little Rock Road when a man driving alone in a blue Ford Crown Victoria pulled her over, according the news release issued Wednesday. After walking to her vehicle, the man pulled a mask over his face, pulled out a handgun and ordered the woman to walk to the cornfield next to the road, the news release stated. There, he beat and sexually assaulted her.
