Larson-Nelson Funeral Home provided the following news release:

Thomas John Larsen, age 61 of Plano, IL passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 27, 2012 at Valley West Community Hospital in Sandwich, IL.  He was born on August 20, 1950 in Oak Park, IL the son of Fredrick and Geraldine (Ellis) Larsen.

Tom served his county proudly in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.  Mr. Larsen was united in marriage on November 30, 1984 to the former Miss Linda Schulz and they spent the next 27 happy years of their lives together.  He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church of Yorkville, IL.  Tom loved boating and playing cards with his family and friends.  He also enjoyed painting pictures of nature, especially tropical scenes. He was a loving husband, father, soon to be grandfather, brother, and uncle who will be deeply missed by his family and friends. 

Tom is survived by his wife, Linda Larsen of Plano; his children, Sean (Susan) Sage of Plainfield, Margaret (Doug) Gainous of San Francisco, CA, Kathryn and Sarah Larsen of Plano; his first grandchild on the way; his brother, James (Georgia) Larsen of Elgin; and his sister, Donna (Bob) Grunenwald of Villa Park; as well as, many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fredrick and Geraldine Larsen and his sister Linda Doerr.

A Funeral Service will be held at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home, 410 E. Countryside Parkway, Yorkville, IL.  Interment will be private. 

Friends may visit from 4:00 until the Hour of Service on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home in Yorkville.
