Obituary: Celeste T. Luettich

Larson-Nelson Funeral Home submitted the following obituary:

Celeste T. Luettich, age 100 of Oswego, IL passed away on Monday, August 15, 2011 at Bickford Cottage of Oswego.  She was born on October 4, 1910 in Savonburg, KS, the daughter of John and Myrtle (Olson) Towell.

Celeste was united in marriage in 1928 to John Luettich, Sr. and they spent the next 49 years of their lives together until his passing in 1977.  She was a member of the Church of Good Shepherd in Oswego for 70 years serving as the church’s financial secretary for 20 years.  Mrs. Luettich was also a member of the 19th Century Club, the Oswego Woman’s Civic Club, the O.N.O Club and the Girl Scout Council of Aurora.  Celeste served as a Cub Scout Den Mother, was a member of the Oswego PTA and was instrumental in purchasing the first uniforms for the Oswego High School Band.  Mrs. Luettich was a lifetime member of the Oswegoland Heritage Association. 

Celeste is survived by her children, Richard Luettich of Savannah, GA, Susan (Leo) Froelich of Carbondale, IL, and Sally (Chuck) Stading of Yorkville, IL; her son-in-law, L. David Wise of San Antonio, TX; her daughter-in-law, Connie Luettich of Yorkville, IL; 15 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and her brother, Robert Towell of Edwardsville, IL; as well as, many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Myrtle Towell; her husband, John Luettich, Sr.; her son, John Luettich, Jr.; her daughter, Joanne Wise; her daughter-in-law, Joyce Luettich; three grandchildren, Stephen Wise, Lynn Luettich and Karen Luettich Lee; and three siblings, Evelyn Walter, Ruth Baar and John “Bud” Towell, Jr.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home, 410 E. Countryside Parkway, Yorkville, IL with Pastor David Kaul officiating.  Interment will follow in the Oswego Township Cemetery, Oswego, IL.

Friends may visit from 5:00 until 8:00 PM on Friday, August 19, 2011 at the Funeral Home in Yorkville, IL.
