Local News Editors to Judge Senior Spelling Bee Friday

State Rep. Kay Hatcher provided the following news release:

Editors from area news organizations will serve as celebrity judges at State Representative Kay Hatcher’s upcoming Senior Spelling Bee, Rep. Hatcher announced today.

Kathy Gresey from the Kane County Chronicle, Kathy Farren from the Record newspapers in Kendall County and Jillian Duchnowski from Yorkville Patch will rule on whether participants’ spellings are correct or incorrect.

“Who better to rule on spelling decisions than editors who review news copy every day? I’m very pleased that they have agreed to participate as celebrity judges, and I know they will have as much fun on Friday as the Spelling Bee participants. I can’t wait to see everyone there,” Rep. Hatcher said.

The Senior Spelling Bee will be this Friday, July 27 in Sugar Grove, just prior to the community’s famous Corn Boil opening ceremonies.

The event is open to everyone 50 and better who lives in the 50th House District, which includes parts of Kane, Kendall and La Salle Counties. The event will begin at 1 p.m. at the Sugar Grove Community Center, located at 141 Main Street in Sugar Grove.

A list of some, but not all of the words contestants will be asked to spell is posted on Representative Hatcher’s constituent website www.hatcher.ilhousegop.org
