Gengler Honored with the Illinois “Master School Board Member Award”
The Yorkville Community Unit School District 115 issued the following news release:
The Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB) will present long-term Yorkville 115 school board member Steve Gengler with its “Master School Board Member Award,” on Oct. 4, at the Three Rivers Division Fall Dinner to be held at the Prairie Bluff Golf Club in Lockport.
According to Jeffrey Cohn, IASB Director of Field Services, The award recognizes Gengler for modeling the pursuit of life-long learning that the organization desires to see in students and all board colleagues.
The IASB awards points based on a board member’s participation in programs, meetings, panel discussions and other events. Gengler has accumulated 915 points during his 22-year tenure as a Yorkille 115 School Board Member, for which he currently serves as secretary.
“It is a pleasure to work with Board Member Steve Gengler, and I want to thank him for his many years of service to the students of Yorkville,” said Dr. Scott Wakeley, Superintendent of Schools.
“The Illinois Association of School Boards would like to congratulate Steve Gengler, for his achievement,” said Cohn, “and thank him for his dedication and support of the [IASB], the children of his District, and to education in Illinois.”
