Club Produces Fire Safety Video for Children

The Fox Valley Therapy Dog Club provided the following news release:

The Fox Valley Therapy Dog Club (FVTDC) has produced a 3-minute DVD on Fire Safety tips for children in which therapy dogs act out life-saving pointers. It is the first in a series of safety DVDs that the 501c3 club hopes to produce. The club strives to grab the attention of young children by using their dogs as a way to communicate serious topics in a safe and entertaining manner so that children will retain the important tips if they are ever faced with an emergency situation.

The FVTDC worked closely with the Bristol-Kendall Fire Department (BKFD) to make sure that the fire safety tips were accurate and professional. The BKFD also provided the fire trucks and background that you see throughout much of the video as well as a starring role played by BKFD Lieutenant Larry Simmons.

The official unveiling of this DVD will take place at the 2012 Fire & Safety Festival on October 13th from noon-2PM at BKFD Firestation #1 on 103 East Beaver Street in Yorkville. This free two-hour event is jam packed with interactive safety programs. There will be a smoke simulation trailer, rappelling demonstration, fire extinguishing demonstration, vehicle extrication, kid’s firefighter challenge, safety seat inspections, stranger danger program, raffles drawings, carnival games & prizes, therapy dogs, Rosati’s pizza, and a “pie in the face” booth featuring Yorkville’s mayor, police chief, five school principals, an alderman, a state’s attorney and the Kendall County Sheriff.
